Mark Jan. 18th on your calendar for an important Planning Commission Meeting (7:30 p.m. at Town Hall). Representatives from developer Miller & Smith will be there to discuss the proposed Willshire Development and, apparently, to seek concessions from the Planning Commission. You'll recall that late last year the Planning Commission gave Miller & Smith a list of guidelines that they would like to see Miller & Smith adhere to before granting use of the Village Overlay Zone.
The meeting on Jan. 18th, like all Town meetings, is open to the public, but at this point it's unclear how much opportunity there will be for public feedback. This is an important time to show up and communicate our community-wide concern. Please consider also wearing a PoP sticker during the meeting so that members of the Planning Commission can look out at the audience and know that the community supports them in upholding their stated recommendations. The guidelines established by the Planning Commission would make the development much more reasonable in terms of size, density, and aesthetics. This could be a crux moment for Willshire and we hope you can attend and lend your support. Look for volunteers outside of Town Hall before the meeting--we'll be handing out the free blue and white stickers (pictured above).
Another way that you can help is by writing to the Planning Commission; ask them to strictly adhere to the guidelines that they submitted to Miller & Smith, allowing no concessions. Emails should be sent to Wade Yost, Town Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org), with the subject line "Attn: Planning Commission."
See you on Jan. 18, 7:30 at Town Hall!
